Review: Machinarium (PC)
Posted in Reviews, Video Games on 08/18/2010 01:07 am by Martin Cortez
(4/5 stars) Machinarium is a PC point-and-click adventure. I’d like to compare it to Myst, but really it’s much better (blasphemy!) The amazing hand-drawn look and feel, along with the comedic tone, really make this game special. Did I mention there’s also robot romance? Too cute!
Many game reviewers have also pointed out the fantastic soundtrack, which you can also buy separately. While it’s true that the game’s soundtrack is perfect for this adventure, I’m not sure I’d want to listen to it all on its own.
Machinarium would easily get a 4.5 or 5 stars if it weren’t for the somewhat slow pace of walking back and forth between screens (which is a common problem with point-and-click adventures.) Even with that one minor quibble, I highly recommend Machinarium to everyone from hardcore to casual gamer.
Mario Kart: The Movie

Mega Shoes
Posted in Mega Man on 03/30/2009 09:06 am by Martin CortezPuma is making some sneakers that are Mega-Man themed. Now how can I pull off this look? (I fear the answer to that question is just: “no.”)
Periodic Table of Controllers
Posted in Video Games on 03/24/2009 02:54 pm by Martin CortezCheck out this cool periodic table that lists video game controllers instead of elements. I have to remember to order a full poster-size version when it’s complete.
SimCraft APEX: Do Want
Posted in Technology, Video Games on 01/12/2009 04:37 pm by Martin CortezAt only $45,000 this is a real steal. The only problem is finding space in the living room to fit this awesome piece of technology.
EGM is dead. Long live EGM.
Posted in Video Games on 01/07/2009 12:10 pm by Martin CortezWell, word is now out that Ziff Davis, publisher of gaming site 1UP.com and EGM Magazine, has made some big dealings with UGO Entertainment. Apparently, 1UP was sold to UGO. This certainly will mean big things for 1UP. One of my favorite podcasts, 1UP Yours, is getting the ax
But more importantly for the industry, EGM Magazine is no more. Anyone who has been playing video games for a long time will know EGM. If you walk down the magazine aisle at your local grocery store, and look for a video game magazine (something I’ve been known to do from time to time), you will usually see a few mainstay magazines: EGM, GamePro, and Game Informer. No offense to the others, but EGM is (was) the best of the best. It is sad to think that they’ve now gone the way of the dodo. Now I will be forced to choose one of those “other” (says with nasal tone) magazines. EGM, you’ll be missed.
Mega Man vs. Hard Hat
Posted in Mega Man on 12/23/2008 10:23 am by Martin CortezJoe Rovang… you’re my new hero. This video is made of pure win.
I’ve also decided that I post so many mega man articles that MM gets a whole category all to himself.
Scribble-whats?
Posted in Nintendo on 12/19/2008 05:25 pm by Martin CortezI… am… totally… amazed. Words fail me. Have I said yet that the Nintendo DS is the best system ever invented? What? Not today? Ok. The Nintendo DS is the best system ever invented.
Megaman Movie Trailer
Posted in Mega Man on 11/21/2008 01:21 pm by Martin CortezI have never been so excited for something so low budget. The beginning is cheese, but the ending is intense! Great special effects and an exciting musical score.
