Star Trek: Countdown

Just finished reading Star Trek: Countdown, the official prequel to the new Star Trek movie.  Now I’m even more excited for the movie!  I encourage any other trekkies out there to pick up this graphic novel.  You can get it from Amazon for $12.

And once you’re done, watch the Star Trek Trailer again.

Chad, Matt, and Rob - The Time Machine

Remember those Choose Your Own Adventure books?  The ones where you had to go to page 112 to fight the dragon or page 216 to leave in the space ship?  Well, this is the YouTube equivalent.  I hope to see more Chad, Matt, and Rob adventures in the future!

Watchmen

I just finished reading the Watchmen last night.  The Watchmen is a series of 12 comics published by DC Comics in the mid 80s.  It was, and still is, a revolutionary comic book.

I had never read the Watchmen series, but knew that I had to when I saw the new movie trailer that was shown before The Dark Knight.  So, I borrowed the comic from a friend and devoured it this weekend.  What an amazing masterpiece!  It’s definitely not appropriate for children (sex, drugs, and lots and lots of violence), but the themes and storytelling are tremendous for a comic book.

I can’t wait for the movie to come out, although I am worried that some of the greatness may be lost in translation.  I hope that the movie does not try to cram too much in and become an incoherent mess.  On the other hand, the screenplay is being written by David Hayter who wrote the first two X-Men movies and is the voice of Snake in the Metal Gear Solid series (Snake?  Snake?  Snaaaaaaaake??!).
