Day

Sunday, December 28, 1997

We woke up on the floor of Julia's apartment. It was our first full day in NY City.

The first thing that we did was start looking for a place to stay for the week. Most of the youth hostils were just that... pretty hostile. They didn't have any places for us to stay, even when we offered to sleep on a floor in the corner.

We eventually found a "cheap" apartment (as far as cheap goes in NY) called the Carlton Arms Hotel. All of the guys agree that our room is pretty much... well... what word shall I use... hmmm.... Satanic? That word has been used, but you can decide for yourself. I think that it's just modern art, but to my brother, Tomas, that's pretty much the same thing as Satanic anyway...

We gladly left our hotel room for the day and walked to the Empire State Building. That building was packed so we decided to just walk around Times Square. On our way there, we saw the library that was in the beginning of the original Ghostbusters.

We passed through Bryant Park and finally reached Times Square. While we were there, we got tickets to go see Miss Saigon on Tuesday at 8:00pm. Remind us not to miss it--those tickets were expensive.

We then went to Central Park where we saw a huge mass of ice skaters on the famous ice skating rink. The last thing that we saw was the huge Christmas tree outside of Rockefeller Center.

Tomorrow, I am going to take a shower in the tiny little communal showers here at the hotel. Then, Morris and I are getting up early to go to the Empire States Building.
